Top Five Tips For Student Success in Exams and Tests
By Anna Peacocks

Firstly, study smart and not study hard. A lot of students make this mistake when they are studying for a major test or exam. The week before exam, ask your teacher or lecturer for the topics will come out for test in order to get yourself prepared. Give yourself ample time to study for a particular paper. The important key is to understand the topics and not just memorize it. By understanding it well, you will tend to remember it better.

Secondly, pack your bag. Make sure everything you need is in the bag. This includes stationery like pencil, eraser, ruler and sometimes calculator. It is better to pack the bag the day before so that you do not panic on the next day.

Thirdly, have sufficient sleep during the night. The night before exam, make sure you have enough sleep. Have at least eight hours of sleep. It is important so that your brain and body can function well the next day.

Fourth, eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal in our daily life but most people like to skip it. Many students tend to forget their breakfast in order not to be late for school. This happens to all and not only students because in the morning, people are rushing. However students cannot concentrate at class. Students also can think well when they have a full stomach. It help fuels the body to help provide energy for us to have problem solving abilities throughout the day.

Fifth, have some time management. Before starting to do the paper, look through the paper to get a rough impression on the paper. Read the instruction given to each question and the marks allocated for each question. Next, you can start answering the easier questions in order to save time. Look through the clock so that you do not exceed time on allocated time for each question. Write neatly and accordingly so that the teacher who marks your answer sheet can see properly. When you are completed with the answer, check your answer to make sure you are satisfied with all the answer given.

To Understand Or to Memorize?

To Understand Or to Memorize?
By Anna Peacocks

To reduce the need of memorizing a bunch of seemingly arbitrary facts, you should understand how something can work. Memory is a fundamental tool for human learning. It is encouraged for children to develop their skills to memorize even during their toddler years. However, true learning is not only memorized and expresses their ideas with memorization; they should demonstrate the ability to refine their ideas through communication with others.

If you memorize something, you are bound to forget, but if you truly understand something, you will take it to the grave and remember forever. Understanding is alike memory in that you can rehearse the information. However with understanding, you know the information in a way that allows us to use it in different ways. The simplest example is where you have memorized a shape and can see it in your mind, and that’s it. With understanding that shape, you are able to rotate it in your mind and see it from different angles. This is really what separates you from understanding and memorization. You can apply ideas to real life situations or case studies if you truly understand.

Memorization is difficult to apply ideas in real-life situations or case studies. Ideas are just as essential to the learning process as are facts. Ideas are important because they represent how different people observe the world.

And that’s where understanding comes in. If you manage to understand a topic, you can still reconstruct it if you are missing some details. However with memorizing, if you lose some details, you lose everything. If you strive to understand, you can solve problems even when numbers or components are changed.

Memorization is not a pure educational philosophy. Memorization should be applied in such a way as to exclude or trump the teaching of understanding. Both working together are key components to building knowledge. The bottom-line, as I see it, is that memorized knowledge can or likely should be part of your foundation or basic. But, it will only get you to not so far. It’s the ability to really understand something and how it works that will help you solve issues that just aren’t solvable with memorized facts alone.

Perfect Optimizer Review - The Windows Registry Cleaner
By Anthony Parker

The Perfect Optimizer is system repair software that is gaining a sound reputation as a worthwhile product to safeguard your pc from problems associated with adware and malware or unwanted cookies. This review looks at the software and its claims for protecting your computer and being an effective Windows registry cleaner.

The Perfect Optimizer has been designed by Miracle Technologies as a tool for repairing Windows specific registries. The idea behind Perfect Optimizer is that it has a form of memory manager which optimizes memory usage in your pc. The software has the capacity to provide ActiveX immunity. As a result, your computer is not hit by spyware, adware or any other undesirable software that may be able to access vulnerable parts of the system.

There is also a start up manager used by Perfect Optimizer to control all programs that run at the point of system start up. This is done partly to improve the overall performance of your pc.

Another benefit of the software is that it has the ability to clear all the unnecessary junk or temporary files with no more than a click of the mouse. There is also a capacity to repair damage done through Internet Explorer and the Windows operating system that may result from viruses or malware.

One of the best aspects of Perfect Optimizer is that it can increase the processing speed of your computer’s operation. When you include the software’s ability to create system restore points and registry backups in mere seconds, there is much to recommend about the Perfect Optimizer.

There have been some doubts expressed about the ability of the software to remove the more difficult registry files that Windows also cannot remove.

However, at a cost of $US44.82 http://app-products-info.webs.com and an 8 week 100 per cent money back guarantee, this product is worth considering.

I have a background in business as well as having worked for a boss in various employment from politics to the civil service. I am currently involved in a consultancy where I advise on business start-ups in the renewable energy and building sectors.

The Pen is Mightier Than the Keyboard

The Pen is Mightier Than the Keyboard
By Jamie R Lyons

Technology evolves so quickly nowadays that sometimes it you find it hard pushed to get used to a new model of phone/computer/mp3 before a brand new one comes along. In most cases of technology the old is overridden by the new. Pretty soon the old is only sold by a few retailers, then, unless it is great enough to be marked iconic or future vintage it is thrown on the scrap heap never to grace the shelves of a shop again. One little invention, however, has battled against the odds and has stayed afloat despite the myriad of technical tools that have tried to replace it.

The pen. The mighty pen is still as popular as ever no matter how many computers, laptops, notebooks and palm pilot computers are invented. Nothing will ever be easier than picking up a pen and scrawling down some notes on a piece of paper. Digital version of the pen and paper need to be removed from their wallets charged up, turned on etc. etc. and what’s more you can’t even fold it up and put it in your pocket when you’re done. And you certainly can’t discreetly pass it to your best friend in class whilst your teacher drones endlessly on about equations that you know you will never ever use. Anyway, I digress.

In the same way that technology hasn’t come along and given us a good pen alternative, pens themselves haven’t had that much of a revamp for a while either. The simple biro - technically called a ballpoint pen has been around for years and years. The ballpoint was officially patented in the 19th century. Around 50 years later, Mr Biro updated it to make the ball move as it rolled along the paper. Yes there are roller ball pens and gel pens and fancy fountain pens, however it is the humble biro that we all call on when we need a pen, propelling it to the top of our office supplies list. Ever since Mr Biro stamped his name on the pen world, we’ve not looked back.

The majority of office workers have a computer. However without a pen and paper would they actually get any work done? The humble pen and paper is the place where ideas are born, where first drafts live and where the ‘To Do’ list is formed. The keyboard is great, the computer a necessity but what always did and always will come first, is the pen.

Not All Grammar Checkers Are Created Equal

Not All Grammar Checkers Are Created Equal
By Tom Harel

When people think about using a grammar checker, they usually have one thing in mind: a program that will find and correct grammatical errors. The truth is, however, that there are so many different types of grammar checkers. In fact, before investing in a grammar checker, it’s important to know what options there are so you can invest your money wisely.

First of all, you need to make sure that a grammar checker program corrects both grammar and spelling. Some programs will correct spelling, but don’t have the feature to correct grammar at all. Other programs claim to be a grammar checker, but in reality, its quality is so poor that it’s good for nothing. So, make sure your program has both features, as you will need them both for proofreading and making corrections in everyday typing.

Another thing that you should remember is that some grammar and spelling checkers are designed for specific groups of people. So, you should ask yourself why you need a grammar and spelling checker. Many people just use the features that come within their word processing program. However, there are other people who have learning disabilities who need much more. The checkers that come with most word processing programs are greatly generalized and may not find errors by people who have dyslexia or other learning problems. Another group of people who often need a top checker is those who are learning English as a second language. Unfortunately, word processing programs do not find these types of errors with their grammar and spelling checkers. It’s important to find a grammar and spelling checker that will be the most beneficial to you.

There are different ways that grammar and spelling checkers are made available. The feature is generally on any word processing software that you purchase. Many operating systems are now using some spelling checkers within their systems, along with some web browsers. There are also separate grammar and spelling checkers that you can buy separately, either online or at a retail store. This would be a program that you would install on your computer, specifically for correcting grammar and spelling errors. These programs usually do a much better job at correcting errors and giving suggestions for corrections. There are also programs that you can purchase and download online that will allow you to make corrections while you are working online. This might be a networking site such as Facebook, an email program such as Outlook or a blog site such as WordPress.

Take time to make sure that any new program is compatible with programs you may use and also your operating system. Before investing in a grammar and spelling checker, make sure it will work with the programs you already have. Any checker that you consider should be using cutting edge technology and have the ability to work within the most up-to-date programs, operating systems and web browsers.

Text to speech capability is another handy feature for any spelling and grammar checker. This amazing technology actually allows each sentence to be read out loud so that the writer will hear what he or she has typed. For those who struggle with using correct grammar, this is especially helpful because you can hear the errors as they are read.

A contextual checker is absolutely the best kind. This is a spelling and grammar checker that makes corrections based upon the content of the sentence. It can be complicated to know which word to use in a sentence to make it grammatically correct. Spelling is the same way - some words sound the same, but have very different spellings. Content-based corrections are corrections that are made based on the other words in the sentence.

This brings us to the next feature that a grammar and spelling checker should have - automatic correction. Usually, grammar and spelling checkers will suggest corrections, one word at a time. Rather than do this, an automatic grammar and spelling checker will correct the whole sentence, based on the content. Especially for those who struggle with using correct spelling and grammar, a one-click correction will give them a great advantage.

Another feature that some checkers have is error reporting. For those wanting to improve their grammar and spelling skills, this is a feature you won’t want to miss. A report can be generated that will show the errors that were made and how often they were made. This is especially helpful for a parent or teacher who is helping a student improve or for someone who is trying to improve his or her own skills.

There are many things to consider with a grammar checker. It’s not an easy decision to make, when you consider all of the options. However, like anything else, you get what you pay for. If you just use the checker on your word processing program, it’s going to find some errors. However, if you are finding that your grammar and spelling checker is not doing the job for you, it’s time to learn why and then invest in a program that will give you the greatest benefit and ability to write using the correct grammar and spelling.
